INDIANAPOLIS, (AFP) - Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya won his second Indianapolis 500 title on Sunday, rallying from 30th to outduel Australia's Will Power and New Zealand's Scott Dixon over the tension-packed final laps.
Montoya won the race in 2000, then spent six years in Formula One and nine years in the US stock-car NASCAR series before returning to IndyCar last year and finishing fifth at the Indy 500.
Montoya fell back early to 30th after his rear wing was damaged when hit during a caution period, but recovered and won a dramatic passing battle with Power and Dixon over the last of the 200 laps at the 2.5-mile (4km) oval.
