The Republic's keglers dominated the podium at the 47th Singapore International Open at Orchid Bowl on Saturday, as 33-year-old Vincent Lim become the first Singaporean to clinch the Men's Open title since 2006.

Lim, who had bowled an average of 246.1 pinfalls in the second round of the Masters final to go into the step-ladder final as top seed, beat Malaysia's Ahmad Muaz 207-175 for the crown.

However, there was agony for national bowler Shayna Ng, 24, who came two pinfalls short of dethroning Women's Open defending champion Sin Li Jane of Malaysia. Despite throwing eight stunning strikes in the step-ladder final, she lost 221-223 to Sin.

The younger members of the national team also made their mark as 19-year-old Muhammad Jaris Goh and 18-year-old Kristin Quah placed third in their respective categories, rounding off the podium finishes.
