SINGAPORE- The seventh edition of the Sundown Marathon which finished on Sunday morning saw about 30,000 participants for the second straight year, with 9,000 signing up for the full 42.195km event.

Starting off in front of the Formula One Pit Building, the men's 42.195km race saw American Russell Ericksen finish first with a timing of 3hr 3sec. He was followed by Singaporean Alex Ong (3:00:50), while Briton Thomas Greene clocked 3:04:03 to round off the top three.

The women's race also saw a new winner, with Kenya's Susan Jemutai Chepkwony emerging top with a timing of 3:28:33. Meanwhile, local runners Rachel See and Jasmine Goh clocked 3:34:26 and 3:38:16 respectively to wrap up second and third spots.

Despite winning, Susan admitted that she could have done better. "There was nobody to push me, and the route had many uphill parts and corners," said the runner, who hopes to represent her country in the Olympics one day.
