Singapore's flag was raised at the flag plaza of the Asian Games athletes' village on Thursday morning, officially marking the Republic's arrival at the venue.
The delegation was led by chef de mission Jessie Phua, who also presented a token of appreciation to village chief Elisa Lee. Phua was joined by athletes and officials from track and field, sailing, sepak takraw and badminton.
The village will host some 13,000 athletes for the duration of the Sept 19-Oct 4 Asiad. It includes a 3,500-seat dining area and recreational facilities including pool and table tennis tables.
Said Singapore sprinter Gary Yeo: "The village is not as big compared to Guangzhou four years ago, but I must say the facilities are great. We're settling well, and now we just need to perform on race day."
