Some footballers from Arsenal, who are set to visit Singapore in July, were recently given a taste of the durian, the king of fruit in South-east Asia.

In a video posted on Arsenal's Facebook page on Wednesday, vice-president of Arsenal Singapore Tiong Jin Yan, introduced the pungent fruit to some of the club's players.

In the video, which has garnered over 17,000 likes, the players looked visibly apprehensive as Mr Tiong explained the significance of the durian in the region.

As the fruit was revealed, Wojciech Szczesny, who was clearly disturbed by the smell, asked Mathieu Debuchy if he was scared. Szczesny also jokingly asked Mr Tiong if the durian was poisonous.

"It just doesn't smell like a fruit," said Kieran Gibbs.

After tasting the fruit, Serge Gnabry confessed that he wouldn't be able to eat much of it, giving the durian a thumbs down.

Out of the five Gunners featured in the video, only Kieran Gibbs seemed to like it, giving it a thumbs up and asked if he would be able to have more in Singapore.

Arsenal, along with Everton and Stoke City, will be in Singapore for the Barclays Asia Trophy in July. The three teams, as well as a Singapore Select XI, will compete for the trophy on July 15 and 18 at the National Stadium.
