HSBC Women's Champions serves up regular dose of remarkable shots

SINGAPORE - Perhaps it's something in the Sentosa air. Or maybe the Serapong greens. But the HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore has given us some truly memorable shots in the past two years.

First there was American Paula Creamer's sensational 75-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole last year to win a playoff against Azahara Munoz. It was also Creamer's first win in four years on the LPGA Tour and boy did she celebrate. Check out those high kicks across the 18th green!

The 28-year-old defending champion was at it again 12 months later, albeit in a less serious environment. At this year's Gala Dinner on Tuesday night as the players were hamming it up during a light-hearted putting contest, Creamer - in 5" stiletto heels and looking stunning in a white two-piece outfit - nailed another mind-boggling 70-foot monster.

She turns her head away at one point as if not believing her ball would go anywhere near the hole. No high kicks this time but her shocked expression and high-five celebrations with Lydia Ko and Michelle Wie are equally priceless.

"I'm done! I'm done!" Creamer laughs.

Not to be outdone was her fellow American Lexi Thompson who hit the shot of the opening round - and possibly tournament - on Thursday with a spectacular hole-in-one at the 140m par-3 14th hole. With a perfectly floated seven-iron, her ball took two quick bounces and rolled straight into the cup. Cue smiles and high-fives all around again from her flightmates Ko and Wie, the same two witnesses of one-putt Creamer the previous night.

Speaking of golf shots, how about the throw heard around the world? Check out world No. 1 Rory McIlroy's reaction after a wild three-iron sends his ball straight into the drink at the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral.

But back to the level-headed ladies. With the tournament set set for a exciting finale at the Sentosa Golf Club on Sunday, odds are there should be a couple more amazing shots in store for us over this weekend. Stay tuned to find out!
