Formula One: Rosberg wins Monaco GP, regains lead in drivers' standings

MONTE CARLO (AFP) - Nico Rosberg maintained Mercedes' total domination of the Formula One season with a commanding win over team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.

The pole-setting German regained the lead in the driver's championship with his second success of the season after the opening leg in Melbourne.

He led from start to finish, with Hamilton holding off a spirited attack from Red Bull rookie Daniel Ricciardo for second. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso took fourth placing.

The race proved a reasonably straightforward affair after the drama of Saturday's qualifying when Rosberg had to survive an official inquiry and accusations of wrongdoing from Hamilton.
