(REUTERS) - Barcelona striker Neymar Jr said on Monday (Jan 26) that he wants to leave his mark on the Barcelona team.

Neymar, who joined Barca in the summer of 2013, at first found it hard to stake his place in the team under coach Tata Martino alongside four-times World Player of the Year Messi.

The two both had injury troubles during the 2013-14 season but when they were fit, Barca fans, expecting the emergence of a lethal partnership scoring entertaining goals at will, were largely disappointed.

But Neymar has now scored 19 goals for Barcelona this season, second only to Messi's 31, and is keen to leave his mark on the team, even if he does not spend the rest of his career there.

"I don't know if I will retire here. But I am very happy at Barcelona and I have no plans of leaving. Do I want to leave a mark while I play here? I want to win titles, I want to win the Champions League, I want to win the World Club Cup, I want to win La Liga... Not so much because I want a name here, but because I think the team deserves it," he said.
