MANCHESTER (AFP) - Netherlands national football coach Louis van Gaal has reportedly agreed a deal to be the new manager of Manchester United, but a club spokesperson insisted no announcement will be made this week.

Various British media outlets reported on Wednesday that van Gaal has agreed personal terms with United, and will take over at Old Trafford after his World Cup commitments with the Dutch national side in Brazil.

However, in response to media queries, an United spokesperson said "no announcement on the manager's position will be made this week."

Interim player-manager Ryan Giggs, who took over from the sacked David Moyes two weeks ago, said he has no update from club vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
