Football: Toothless LionsXII sink to 2-1 Malaysian Super League defeat at Kelantan

The LionsXII's woeful form in the Malaysian Super League (MSL) continued on Tuesday night when Fandi Ahmad's side lost 2-1 at Kelantan, a result that left the team lying eighth in the 12-team standings.

With key players Safuwan Baharudin, Khairul Amri and Shakir Hamzah missing, the odds were stacked against the Singapore outfit, who have now lost in all three of their visits to the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium.

Midfielder Ahmad Fakri Saarani scored the opener from close range for the hosts after 29 minutes. Midfielder Khairul Izuan Rosli doubled Kelantan's lead on the hour mark, heading in from close range after his initial effort had been saved by goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud before winger Faris Ramli netted a consolation for the LionsXII in the 68th minute.

Fandi's side will be back in action on Saturday, when Sarawak visit the Jalan Besar Stadium.
