A SINGAPORE side led by national football coach Bernd Stange crashed to a 0-6 loss to France's Under-21s in a friendly played on Reunion Island on Tuesday morning (Singapore time).

The match was put together in a bid to convince the Singapore National Olympic Council that the Republic's U-23s deserve to represent the nation at September's Asian Games in Incheon.

To that end, Stange named an 18-man squad made up of experienced internationals in Khairul Amri and Hassan Sunny, those eligible for the Asiad such as Shakir Hamzah and Faris Ramli, as well as youngsters like Ammirul Emmran and M. Anumanthan - both of whom are expect to lead Singapore's bid for gold at the 2015 SEA Games on home ground.

But they found themselves comprehensively undone, thanks to goals by Samuel Umtiti (21st minute), Paul-Georges Ntep (23rd, 36th), Kingsley Coman (44th), Florian Thauvin (55th) and Neal Maupay (64th).
