Football: Sanchez Flores resigns as coach of Spanish Primera Liga side Getafe

MADRID (AFP) - Quique Sanchez Flores confirmed on Thursday that he has resigned as coach of Spanish Primera Liga side Getafe due to personal reasons after less than two months in the job.

"I want to communicate my decision today to resign as the coach of Getafe," he said.

"It is a personal decision, the product of a vital reflection, that will allow me not to repeat situations which haven't made me happy."

The 50-year-old's decision came as a shock as he had guided the Madrid side away from the relegation zone in recent weeks with three wins in their last five games.

Sanchez Flores, who enjoyed a successful previous spell in charge of Getafe during the 2004-05 season, was appointed only last month after Cosmin Contra left to take over Chinese side Guangzhou R&F.

Getafe are 14th place in La Liga, four points above the relegation zone.
