Football: LionsXII snap 7-match winless run with 1-0 win over Sarawak

The LionsXII snapped their seven-match winless run in the Malaysia Super League with a 1-0 victory over Sarawak at the Jalan Besar Stadium this evening.

Watched by a crowd of 4,748, it took the LionsXII 59 minutes to open accounts, when Khariul Nizam powered a header past goalkeeper Fadzley Rahim after the Sarawak defence had failed to clear Khairul Amri's cross.

LionsXII goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud did his bid at the other end as well, as he produced a stupendous save at his near post to deny Sarawak midfielder Shreen Thambi in the 72nd minute.

The win meant that the LionsXII are unbeaten in five home matches this season. Coach Fandi Ahmad and his charges will next face Sime Darby FC in an away game on April 25.
