Italian Serie A champions Juventus beat a Singapore Selection side 5-0 in a friendly match at the new National Stadium on Saturday night. It was the first football match ever played at the 55,000-seater arena, and was attended by a crowd of 27,338.

Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo was the toast of the night. The 35-year-old playmaker received the loudest cheers whenever he touched the ball, and was instrumental in his team's win.

And it was Pirlo who scored the first ever goal at the iconic dome-shaped stadium, beating Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Sunny with a low free-kick from the edge of the area. He made it 2-0 with a penalty one minute before half-time.

Further goals in the second half from Paul Pogba, Sebastian Giovinco, and Kwadwo Asamoah sealed the victory for the visitors.
