Hands up if anyone saw a 4-0 thrashing for Manchester United - and at the hands of third-tier side MK Dons, no less - coming?
A woman by the name of Holly Griffiths, from Chesire, apparently did. She posted a tweet claiming that she had made use of a free 2.50 pound (S$5.20) bet to place a 500-1 wager that MK Dons would thrash the Red Devils 4-0.
Unbelievably, it happened, and the amateur punter went on to win 1,250 pounds.
But get this - Griffiths is actually a Manchester United fan who had meant to back her team; she had accidentally selected the wrong side instead.
A bittersweet moment for her we reckon, but it's probably safer to back the opposing team these days given the state of Louis van Gaal's team!
