LONDON (AFP) - France goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris has signed a new five-year contract with Tottenham, the English Premier League football club confirmed on Thursday.

The 27-year-old originally signed from French outfit Lyon two years ago for 10 million euros (S$17 million) and has made 78 appearances for the north London club.

"We are delighted to announce that Hugo Lloris has committed his future to the club with the signing of a new five-year contract," Spurs said in a statement.

Lloris, who captained France at the World Cup, playing all five of their games, said he was looking forward to working with Tottenham's new coach Mauricio Pochettino.
