Works to widen stretch of Pan Island Expressway complete

SINGAPORE - Works to widen a 5.8km stretch on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) between Clementi Avenue 6 and Adam Road have been completed, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Thursday.

The widened portions, which include an additional lane on each side of the expressway. have opened progressively to the public since last July.

They are expected to ease congestion during peak hours and improve travelling time for motorists living in western Singapore.

The LTA is also building two flyovers to provide dedicated access to vehicles exiting and entering the PIE from Clementi Avenue 6, and those doing so at Bukit Batok East Avenue 3.

This project, which will be completed by end of next year, will cut down on vehicles having to criss-cross at slip roads and smoothen traffic on the main expressway.
