SINGAPORE - Commuters in north-east and central Singapore will benefit from two new bus services that will start on Sept 14, public transport operator SBS Transit and the Land Transport Authority announced on Monday.

For commuters travelling between Hougang and Upper Serangoon, the new loop service 324 will shuttle them to locations such as Hougang Mall, Kang Kar Mall and Cheng San Public Library. The service will also make stops at three schools - Holy Innocents' High, Serangoon Secondary and CHIJ (Our Lady of the Nativity).

Service 324 will depart from Hougang Central Bus Interchange and will ply Upper Serangoon Road, Upper Serangoon Crescent and Upper Serangoon View. It will run from 5.45am to 12.30am daily.

For commuters in central Singapore, a new supplementary bus service, 139M, will be rolled out on Sept 14 to supplement the existing bus service 139.

With this service, commuters will have shorter waiting times for the bus when travelling from Toa Payoh Interchange or MRT station to St Michael's estate.

The supplementary bus service will also make stops at the HDB Hub, Toa Payoh Town Park, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, and the Whampoa Community Club.

It will operate from 5.35am to 11pm on weekdays and from 5.45am to 11pm on weekends and public holidays.

The two new services are part of the Bus Service Enhancement Programme.
