SINGAPORE - SBS Transit will raise fares on its 41 non-basic bus routes - the Nite Owl, Parks, Chinatown Direct and Premium services.

The new fares will come into effect on Sunday, Aug 3, the public transport operator said on Friday. It added that the Public Transport Council had approved its application to revise the fares.

Depending on the route, adult fares will go up between 10 and 70 cents.

Adult fares for the six Nite Owl routes will increase by between 10 and 20 cents, while senior citizen concession fares will go up by five and 10 cents. Student concession fares will increase by five cents.

For Parks Service 408 and the three Chinatown Direct routes, adult fares will go up by 10 cents, while senior citizen and student concession fares will increase by five cents.

Meanwhile, children aged under seven who are now paying a fare on those 10 services will get to enjoy free travel. Those taller than 0.9m will need a valid child concession card to enjoy this benefit.

SBS Transit will raise adult fares for its 31 premium bus services by 20 to 70 cents. For instance, service 538 from Pasir Ris will cost $4.50, up from $3.80.

These services provide guaranteed seating from the heartlands to the Central Business District.

Commuters will be informed of the new fares through various channels including leaflets and the SBS Transit website (www.sbstransit.com.sg), said the operator.
