Rubbish truck catches fire on CTE, causing a two-hour traffic jam

SINGAPORE - The engine compartment of a rubbish truck caught fire on Saturday night, causing a traffic jam on the Central Expressway (CTE) that lasted around two hours.

The truck was 1.5km down the CTE towards the Seletar Expressway, before the Outram Road Exit, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), adding that it dispatched a red rhino and a fire engine to the scene.

Officers, who got the call at around 8.30pm, took around 10 minutes to extinguish the fire using a water jet and compressed air foam.

The SCDF said no one was injured.
