SINGAPORE - The North-East Line service was disrupted on Thursday morning between Punggol and Buangkok stations due to a power fault.

"There is currently no NEL service between Punggol NE17 & Buangkok NE15 due to a power fault. Free bus rides are available at designated bus stops. Shuttle buses have also been activated. We are sorry for the inconvenienced caused," SBS Transit said in a statement.

Twitter pictures sent by readers show long queues at these two stations.

Some readers commented on The Straits Times Facebook that there was confusion over the free shuttle service.

"No staffs direct us where to q up for shuttle bus and where the shuttle bus head to. After q up for more than 45 min, able to get onto bus to Hougang. Worst bus will stop at every stop and not direct to MRT station," said Jessee Chang.
