SINGAPORE - Motorists using the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) will incur higher costs from Aug 4 as four new electronic road pricing (ERP) gantries are switched on.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said Tuesday that traffic speeds along two stretches of the AYE between Jurong Town Hall Road and North Buona Vista Road during the morning and evening peak hours were still below the optimal range.
Hence the three additional ERP gantries will start charging citybound cars $2 after Jurong Town Hall, on Clementi Avenue 6 and Clementi Avenue 2 slip roads leading to the highway between 7.30am and 9am.
In the evening between 6pm and 7pm, they will be charged $1.
Those passing the gantry after North Buona Vista towards Tuas in the evening will charged $1 between 6pm and 6.30pm, and $2 between 6.30pm and 7pm.
In its latest quarterly review of ERP rates, the LTA announced other changes. Motorists heading for the city on the East Coast Parkway (ECP) between 7.30am and 8am will no longer have to pay ERP. Previously, the charge was $1.
This affects those entering the ECP via the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway too.
And westbound motorists on the Marina Coastal Expressway before the exit to Maxwell Road and slip road to Marina Coastal Drive between 8.30am and 9am will pay $2 instead of $3 previously.
