SINGAPORE - Train service resumed between Punggol and Sengkang stations on the North-East Line at 3pm on Aug 21.

The disruption, which began at about 6am, was due to a power fault caused by a dislocation of cantilever arms. As a result, power supply to the trains was cut off.

Initially, services between three stations - Buangkok, Sengkang and Punggol - were affected. At about 8.40am, train service to Sengkang station resumed but service to Punggol remained suspended.

Free bus rides and shuttle buses were provided by SBS Transit.

Commuters who spoke to The Straits Times said that the disruption had delayed their schedules up to an hour.
