Heavy traffic expected at Tuas and Woodlands checkpoints this weekend

SINGAPORE - Traffic at both land checkpoints is expected to be especially heavy this weekend in the light of the Good Friday holiday.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) warned that traffic volume will likely start building up from Thursday and continue until Sunday, with delays expected during this period.

Those planning to leave via Woodlands Checkpoint are advised not to travel there on foot, but take public transport instead.

"With security checks, traffic build-up is inevitable, especially when a large number of travellers use the checkpoints at the same time," said the ICA.

To avoid a surge of people and vehicles seeking clearance at both checkpoints, travellers are advised to adjust their travel plans if possible.

The ICA also advised motorists to check on the traffic situation at both checkpoints before setting off.

Information will be available from the Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System which is installed along the AYE and BKE.
