SINGAPORE - There is congestion on the Seletar Expressway due to an oil leak on Lane 1, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Wednesday morning.

"Obstacle on SLE (towards CTE) after Lentor Ave Exit with congestion till Woodlands Ave 12 Exit. Avoid lane 1," the transport authority said on Twitter at 10am.

LTA posted a tweet about the oil leak at 7.47am. Concurrently, the congestion was also reported on radio.

One lane was closed off to clean up the oil. The lane was reopened at 9.39am.

Ms Azliana A., who was travelling on CTE at 9.15am, told The Straits Times she saw a sign with the alert: "Oil spill on Lane 1", just before the Lentor exit.

The Straits Times understands that the oil could have been the result of a leak from a vehicle.

The police was informed about the oil leak at 7.26am, and the Traffic Police was dispatched to direct traffic. No one has been arrested.

Meanwhile, investigation on the Paterson Road oil spill on Jan 15 is ongoing. The truck driver allegedly involved in causing the spill has not been charged.
