SINGAPORE - Travellers at Changi Airport's Terminal 3 can now relax at a one-of-a-kind wines and spirits store which comes with a bar set up by Raffles Hotel to serve Singapore Sling cocktails and other drinks, as well as a private lounge.

DFS Group has opened a new 11,400 sq ft double-storey store - its largest so far - as part of plans to improve services and product offerings at Changi.

The flagship store will feature Changi's first branded boutiques for wines and spirits.

Nine brands - Absolut, Dom Pérignon, Glenfiddich, Hendrick's, Hennessy, Johnnie Walker, The Macallan, Martell, and Penfolds - will showcase their heritage and their finest products within individually-designed boutiques.

The store will also host visits from master distillers, blenders and brand ambassadors throughout the year, and unveil worldwide product launches for these nine brands, DFS said on Thursday.

Across its stores at Changi Airport, DFS has expanded its assortment - one of the largest in the region - to over 1,400 products from over 440 spirits, wines and tobacco brands.

Travellers can pick from a wide selection of single malts, with over 110 products from over 50 brands. A range of exclusive single casks through a partnership with the Scotch Malt Whisky Society is available alongside brands such as Kavalan from Taiwan, and a range of Japanese malts such as Hakushu and Yamazaki.

To appeal to collectors, the range also includes whiskies from closed distilleries, such as Port Ellen.

To celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday this year, DFS will also introduce exclusive products from The Dalmore, D.O.M. Bénédictine, Jack Daniel's and Johnnie Walker.

Chairman and chief executive officer of the DFS Group, Philippe Schaus, said in a statement: "When we embarked on this unique project, we wanted to offer Singapore, the most renowned travel destination in South-east Asia with the most modern airport, a wines and spirits store of a quality and richness unlike anywhere else in the world."

The new store was designed by Masamichi Katayama, the award-winning interior designer and founder of design firm Wonderwall, he said.

Changi Airport Group's chief executive officer, Lee Seow Hiang, said: "The store - with its stunning façade and double volume grandeur - is not only a design showpiece on its own, but the extensive range of products and unique boutiques truly enhance the overall retail experience."
