SINGAPORE - Electronic eyes will soon be used at 10 more locations to clamp down on illegal parking.

The closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be in operation from July 15 at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, near Ang Mo Kio MRT station, along Woodlands Road near Kranji station and along Collyer Quay, among other places.

These additional cameras will bring the number of areas with CCTV cameras to monitor illegal parking to 20. This will go up to 30 by October, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in a release on Friday. These 30 locations are typically areas that see a high incidence of illegal parking throughout the day on a daily basis, added the LTA.

In these areas, illegally parked vehicles tend to impede the smooth flow of public buses, leading to traffic congestion and affecting the safety of pedestrians.
