SINGAPORE - The chance to travel in space has landed in Singapore for members of the public.

For a price of US$100,000 (S$124,895) per passenger, American company XCOR Space Expeditions, which develops commercial space shuttles, will take travellers up to the next frontier, starting from the end of next year.

A model of the space shuttle which will be used for the voyage, the XCOR Lynx Mark II, is currently on display in front of Shaw House in Orchard Road as part of a roadshow until Sept 5. The roadshow is organised by Swiss watch company Luminox with XCOR Space Expeditions.

The actual shuttle will hold just the pilot and a passenger who will be required to co-pilot and perform tasks such as reading instruments and ensuring dials are steady.

Tickets to the space expedition are available from Crystal Time, the distributor of Luminox watches in Singapore.

Fewer than five people from Singapore have expressed interest to travel in space with XCOR.
