SINGAPORE - A video showing three debt collectors knocking on an alleged debtor's Housing Board flat in Buangkok is making its rounds online, and raising questions about the methods employed by such organisations.

The nearly three-minute video, which socio-political website The Online Citizen wrote about on Monday, showed three men wearing dark tops and jeans shouting outside a door.

They were threatening a certain "Jonathan" living in the flat whom they claimed owed them money, and spoke in a mix of English, Mandarin and Hokkien dialect. They also banged the door grille multiple times.

One man, who called himself "Xiao Long", said: "I know you are inside. Stop hiding. I saw you sitting on the sofa."

In a second video uploaded to YouTube by user DZGlobal about a week ago, "Xiao Long", who was wearing a grey-and-white top, was seen waving a file and negotiating heatedly with a woman believed to be Jonathan's wife. She claimed that her husband was in the hospital and could not produce the $200 to $300 that "Xiao Long" wanted.

A policeman arrived on the scene near the end of the two-and-a-half-minute video. He was placating the two parties before the video abruptly ended.

The filmmaker is believed to be in the same company as the debt collectors.

Besides the second video, the user has also uploaded two other similar videos showing debt collectors on "field collection", according to the user's description.
