SINGAPORE - M1, SingTel and StarHub will offer Apple's new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 tablets later this month, the telcos said in statements on Friday.

Pricing and data plan details for the WiFi + Cellular models of the tablets, which were unveiled early on Friday morning in Cupertino, will be released later.

The 4G LTE devices will be able to connect to the telcos' ultra-fast networks, they said.

Consumers can already order the new devices from Apple's online store, where prices start from $688 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version of the iPad Air 2, and from $548 for the equivalent version of the iPad mini 3.

At just 6.1mm thick, the iPad Air 2 is said to be the slimmest mainstream tablet. It is 18 per cent thinner and 32g lighter than the original iPad Air. It also sports the new and faster A8X processor and the M8 motion co-processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera and Apple's Touch ID fingerprint sensor technology.

The iPad mini 3 has largely similar specifications and physical dimensions as the iPad mini 2, save for the addition of Touch ID.

The tablets are available in gold, space grey and silver.
