Criminal lawyer Subhas Anandan, father of a 24-year-old son, tells SundayLife! what he wants for Christmas, what he needs, and what he's likely to be getting as gifts from his loved ones.

What I want: "I don't really want anything. If people really want to give me something, the best they can do is pray for me."

What I need: "Good health. I've had four heart attacks since 1978. I've lost one kidney to cancer in 2001.

"I also have diabetes and blocked intestines.

"At the start of this year, my kidneys failed and I now go for dialysis three times a week."

What I'll get: "Usually neckties from well-known brands such as Gucci, Cartier and Chanel. I've also gotten pens from Parker and Montblanc.

"I'm not a Christian, but since my birthday falls on Christmas Day, I consider these birthday presents rather than Christmas presents.

"I wear or use these items in court and do appreciate the kind gestures of others."
