SINGAPORE - Three senior diplomats have received new postings as Singapore's representatives in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and United Nations (UN) and as high commissioner to Britain.

Ms Tan Yee Woan will take up the post of permanent representative to the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland, on Aug 11. Mr Foo Kok Jwee will also be based there as permanent representative to the UN from Sept 8. Ms Foo Chi Hsia will be the high commissioner to Britain from Sept 1.

Ms Tan joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in 1989. From December 2010 to this month, she served as Singapore's permanent representative to the United Nations and permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. She was Singapore's ambassador to Cambodia from June 2007 to August 2010.

Mr Foo joined the Singapore Foreign Service in 1999. He served as director-general of the Technical Co-operation Directorate from August 2011 to May 2014. He took charge of the Singapore Cooperation Programme, through which Singapore gives technical assistance to developing countries. From December 2010 to May 2014, he was press secretary to Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, director (special duties) in the Ministry of Communications and Information and director for academic matters in MFA's Diplomatic Academy.

Ms Foo Chi Hsia joined MFA in 1994. She was director in-charge of the International Economics Directorate and WTO matters from 2008 to 2009. From August 2010 to July 2014, she was director-general of the Americas Directorate.
