Singapore Airlines to use superjumbo A380 for Auckland flights from Oct 27

SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines (SIA) will deploy its Airbus A380 for selected flights to and from Auckland, New Zealand, from Oct 27.

The 471-seat superjumbo will be used on flights SQ285 and SQ286, which fly to and from Auckland Airport respectively. These are currently operated with 278-seat Boeing 777 aircraft.

SIA operates 12 flights a week to Auckland, including five others with Boeing 777 aircraft.

The A380, the world's largest commercial aircraft, has proven popular with customers since its inaugural flight in 2007, said the airline on Monday.

It flies to destinations such as Beijing, Frankfurt, London, Mumbai, New Delhi, and New York.
