SINGAPORE - An empty cable car fell on a construction site along Imbiah Walk near Underwater World in Sentosa on Aug 10. Another nearby cabin, with a technical supervisor inside, was halted in mid-air.

The incident happened on a line that is being constructed on the island, not the existing one that links Sentosa to Mt Faber, said Sentosa in a statement. Installation works were being done at the time.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call at 4.25pm and reached the scene just after 4.30pm. It deployed a fire engine, red rhino, ambulance, aerial appliance and its Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART).

After checks by SCDF and onsite engineers, the second cable car was moved safely to Imbiah Station. No one was hurt.

A spokesperson from Sentosa said that the company is working closely with its contractor.

The Building and Construction Authority is investigating.
