The dragon playground is a Singapore icon and an inflatable version of the beloved landmark is one of the attractions at the latest Children's Season programme at the National Museum.

We revisit the playground, located at Toa Payoh Lorong 6, in pictures and tell you six things about it.

Mr Khor Ean Ghee, now 79, designed the iconic playground when he was an interior designer with the Housing Board from 1969 to 1984. He also designed other familiar landmarks such as the pelican playground in Dover Road. This is a watercolour sketch he made of the dragon playground.

Mr Khor has a diploma in interior design from the University of North London and a fine arts degree from the National Taiwan Normal University. The father of three children, aged between 40 and 51, grew up in Penang. The retiree is a member of the Singapore Art Society and Singapore Watercolour society.

The dragon playground in front of Blk 28 in Toa Payoh Lorong 6 has been there since 1979, making it one of Singapore's oldest playgrounds. It was picked by New York culture blog Flavorwire.com as one of 15 amazing playgrounds in the world in 2012.

There are other dragon playgrounds around Singapore. This one in front of Blk 240 in Toa Payoh Lorong 1 was estimated to have been completed in 1985.

This one is located in front of Blk 570/571 in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. It is estimated to have been completed in 1978.
