SINGAPORE - A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was hit by a car on Yio Chu Kang Road on Monday.

Alenna New was on her way home from school at around 4pm when she was struck by the car travelling on Yio Chu Kang Road towards Upper Serangoon Road.

She had just got off the bus, and was crossing the road near her home at The Calrose, Lianhe Wanbao reported.

Police said that the 12-year-old was taken unconscious to KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

Mr Fu, a security guard who witnessed the accident, told Wanbao that the girl was wearing an Anderson Primary School uniform.

She looked out for cars at the curb, but hesitated before crossing the road, Mr Fu said. A few passers-by stopped to help, he added.

Mr Fu found Alenna's address and phone number among her belongings, and called her home.

Alenna's grandmother rushed down immediately, and accompanied her to the hospital.

She told Wanbao on Tuesday that her granddaughter has serious head injuries, but was no longer in a critical condition.

Police investigations are ongoing.
