SINGAPORE - Want to own a Straits Times photograph as a keepsake? Saw yourself in a picture in the paper and wish to have a copy of it?

Readers can now do so easily with a new mobile app that will be launched by PhotoBank in the next few months.

With a few swipes and taps, the app allows users to buy published and unpublished photos taken by photojournalists from The Straits Times as well as other newspapers from Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) through their smart devices. Photos are pre-categorised into different themes for easy searching.

Set up in 2010 by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and FotoHub, PhotoBank offers a range of SPH-copyrighted photographs from The Straits Times, The New Paper, Business Times and Berita Harian for sale to the public.

To celebrate Singapore's 49th birthday, it is offering a 20 per cent discount from Aug 1 to Sep 30, with a minimum spend of $30, on all products.

These include all photos and calendars, as well as new merchandise such as photo mugs and photo puzzles. Readers can choose to create their own calendar, print their PhotoBank image on a mug, or turn it into a puzzle.

PhotoBank is also reducing its prices across the board, with effect from Aug 1. Prices now start at $6 before the discount for a 6R size print photo; and $99 for a 12-inch-by-16-inch canvas or acrylic photo.
