The People's Association (PA) will pilot chit-chat sessions and learning journeys at 20 neighbourhoods in the next six months.

The chit-chat sessions aim to promote integration among Singaporeans and new immigrants. They will provide an informal setting within the Residents' Committees and Neighbourhood Committees for residents to share personal stories.

The initiative is headed by the PA's Integration Council, and was announced by Associate Professor Fatimah Lateef on Saturday morning at the association's Integration and Naturalisation Champions Forum.

The Integration Council will also appoint about 150 students from universities and polytechnics to be "integration ambassadors". They will use social media platforms to share stories on positive neighbourliness and graciousness, said Dr Fatimah Lateef, who is also advisor to the Integration Council.

The council also plans to partner groups such as clan associations and grassroots organisations to further its outreach on immigration issues.
