Over 2,000 personnel from Mindef and SAF celebrate National Day

SINGAPORE - Some 2,000 personnel from the Defence Ministry and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) observed Singapore's 49th birthday at a ceremony on Friday morning.

The ceremony featured song and dance performances to the tunes of popular National Day Songs, by children from childcare centre Cherie Hearts @ Gombak, and artistes from the SAF Music and Drama Company.

Also present were Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State for Defence Maliki Osman, Permanent Secretary for Defence Chan Yeng Kit and Chief of Defence Ng Chee Meng.

All SAF units, including overseas training detachments, will also be holding observance ceremonies to celebrate National Day, said Mindef.
