Online accolades for Republic Poly student who buys meal for man seen eating leftovers

SINGAPORE - A heartwarming incident at a fast food outlet in Woodlands was captured by Facebook user Aishah Lim.

Ms Lim was dining at the Texas Chicken in Causeway Point shopping mall when she saw a young man giving a tray of food to a stranger, according to her Facebook post on Tuesday.

She wrote: "Seated at the table next to mine was a guy who looks like he is intellectually disabled. I didn't realise that he was eating the leftovers from the table till a young gentleman brought over a tray of food that he just bought.

"Initially I thought they were friends then I heard the young gentleman said 'Here, eat this. Do not eat the leftovers anymore.'"

She said she was taken aback "that there are people out there with such kindness in the country that we live in".

Ms Lim also said she later found out that the kind young man is a student from Republic Polytechnic named Charles.

"He definitely deserves some kind of recognition. May God bless his kind heart," she wrote.

Her post has been shared more than 270 times since it was put up on Tuesday night.
