One worker dies and another injured after falling off a lift at Jurong West worksite

SINGAPORE - A construction worker died, and another was injured after they fell off a lift platform on Tuesday in Jurong West.
The two men, a 29-year-old from India and a 30-year-old from Bangladesh, were working at 161 Corporation Walk, where Lakeside Primary School is located.
The police said they received a call at 5.21pm requesting assistance. Paramedics pronounced the the younger man dead at the scene, but the older man, who was conscious, was taken to the National University Hospital.
The Manpower Ministry is investigating the incident, said a spokesman, adding that preliminary findings showed that the workers had been installing boards on the walls in the school hall while standing on the platform of a scissor lift.
