NTU launches book on medical school building's history

SINGAPORE - Nanyang Technological University on Monday launched a coffee table book detailing the history of its medical school's 90-year-old building at Mandalay Road.

The book features historical moments at the former medical hostel as told through the personal recollections of former occupants.

Some of the stories include air raids by the Japanese during the second world war and the restoration of the building for the university's new Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

"This heritage building stands as an enduring reminder of the pioneering spirit of Singapore's founding fathers," NTU President Bertil Andersson said.

"With this book, we hope to pay a fitting tribute to them and their legacy as well as the heritage and historical significance of this important piece of Singapore's architectural history."
