NTU bus driver suspended after video shows him driving while looking at mobile phone

SINGAPORE - A shuttle bus driver who was seen using his mobile phone as he was driving has been suspended.

A video of the bus driver, who drives a shuttle bus at Nanyang Technological University, surfaced on social media on Tuesday.

In the 39-second video, the driver is constantly looking at his smartphone while driving with one hand.

Tong Tar Transport Service Pte Ltd, the company that provides shuttle bus services to NTU, said the driver has been suspended while it investigates the matter.

"Tong Tar takes a serious view of road safety issues. All our drivers are trained and reminded periodically of the need to be vigilant and to be responsible for the safety of passengers and road users," said Mr Phillip Peh, general manager of Tong Tar.

"Pending our investigation into the matter, we have immediately suspended the driver from NTU."
