SINGAPORE - More than 1,700 operationally ready national servicemen (NSmen) and their families celebrated Father's Day at three Safra Clubs on Sunday.

The Safra Sprint Kids Xtreme event at Safra Jurong included a cup stacking challenge and relay races.

Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Defence, gave out medals to the winners of the Family Four Fun Race.

Said Mr Chan: "I'm very happy to see so many of the families bringing their kids to come together to enjoy a bit of family time. And we hope more organisers from other establishments will also come forward to organise similar activities.

"Not just today, but throughout the year to celebrate the family as the core institution of our country."

His ministry will work with Safra to organise more of such activities, he added.

Safra also organised celebrations at its clubs in Tampines and Toa Payoh.

It renewed its partnership with the Families for Life movement in February, and will received funding of $700,000 over two years from the movement to organise more family bonding activities.
