SINGAPORE - Local blogger Han Hui Hui will not be allowed to proceed with a planned speech and demonstration at Speakers Corner in Hong Lim Park this Saturday, after the National Parks Board (NParks) revoked its approval for the event.

NParks said in a joint statement with the Singapore Police Force on Tuesday night that its decision was taken on the advice of the police.

Police have been questioning Ms Han and several other people as part of a probe into a protest Ms Han led at Hong Lim Park on Sept 27. The protest had disrupted a nearby charity carnival held by YMCA and frightened special needs children performing on stage.

On Tuesday, police interviewed another blogger, Mr Roy Ngerng, who co-led the Sept 27 protest with Ms Han.

NParks said on Tuesday it will also cancel any existing approvals granted to the individuals "under investigation for the Sept 27 event", and will not approve any further applications by them, "until their cases are concluded".

It added that Ms Han had made two applications to use Speakers Corner this Saturday, Oct 25. The first application, to speak at the venue, was made on Sept 28 while a second application to hold a demonstration was made on Sunday.
