SINGAPORE - From next month, some 1.2 million households here can expect to get their National Day goodie bags, as organisers start distributing them.

The tote bags come in 50 different designs submitted by children, pioneers, celebrities and graphic designers. The designs include drawings of the Merlion, and the city skyline.

The parade memorabilia will feature items that will remind Singaporeans of their childhood. They include haw flakes, cap teh, muruku and country erasers.

There will also be a commemorative figurine of the Singa Lion, the iconic mascot of the Singapore kindness movement. Singa will come in 15 different designs.

Colonel Frederick Choo, NDP's chairman of engagement, celebrations and mobile column committee, said the aim is to put in memories in the funpacks like "the games we played and the icons we grew up with".

Parade organisers will tie up with the People's Association (PA) to distribute the SG Funpacks next month.

When contacted, PA declined to elaborate further on the distribution plans, only saying that it will "release more information... at a later date".
