Muis appoints new head for Harmony Centre

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) has appointed a new head for Muslim organisation, the Harmony Centre, which encourages inter-faith dialogue here.

Ustaz Muhammad Fazalee Ja'afar, who was part of the southeast and northeast mosque cluster over the past five years, has been heading the centre since April 1.

His predecessor Ustaz Mohamed Ali Atan has now assumed the post of Consul in Jeddah.

Ustaz Fazalee began his career with with Muis in 2003. He is a graduate of the Al-Azhar University in Islamic law and holds a masters of art in interdisciplinary Islamic studies with the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University in Indonesia.

A statement, released on Thursday by Muis, said that the Harmony Centre looks forward to continued support from all faith leaders here so as to build greater inter-faith harmony in Singapore.
