SINGAPORE - Former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew remains in a stable condition under the close supervision of his doctors, according to an update by Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim.

In a Facebook post on Friday night, Dr Yaacob said he has been informed that Mr Lee "is stable and that the doctors are monitoring him closely".

"I understand that many people are concerned and anxious about Mr Lee Kuan Yew's condition," Dr Yaacob added.

"In the meantime, let us continue to give him our well wishes and keep him in our prayers."

Mr Lee, 91, is warded at the Singapore General Hospital, where he was admitted on Feb 5 with severe pneumonia.

On Thursday, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that Mr Lee, who remains in intensive care, is still sedated and on mechanical ventilation.
