Special Parliament session in memory of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Parliament will sit at 4pm today for a special session to pay tribute to Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Eleven MPs, including Defence Minister and Leader of the House Ng Eng Hen, and Workers' Party chief Low Thia Khiang, will speak on the contributions made by Singapore's founding Prime Minister and their impact on the country. Only invited guests will be admitted to the sitting, which is expected to last about two hours. - FIONA CHAN

Indonesia's Jokowi looks to woo China

Indonesian president Joko Widodo is in China today to drum up investor interest in Southeast Asia's largest economy, as Indonesia looks to deepen bilateral trade and infrastructure links with the Asian giant. This visit is the second leg of Mr Joko's East Asia tour. Earlier he met Japanese premier Shinzo Abe in Japan, and the two nations agreed on tighter cooperation on defence and security matters. - RUPALI KAREKAR

The annual Boao Forum for Asia conference opens today in China's Hainan province with the host nation welcoming dignitaries from countries including Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Uganda to hold discussions on topics ranging from regional development to politics and security and people's livelihood. National high jumper Michelle Sng aiming for SEA Games glory

An athlete often needs a great leap of faith to sustain a bid to reach the next level in his or her sport. High jumper Michelle Sng has had to battle doubts and uncertainties
after injuries stymied her progress.
