MAS launches fourth set of coins featuring native orchids

SINGAPORE - The Monetary Authority of Singapore on Wednesday launched the 2014 Native Orchids of Singapore Coins, the fourth in a series featuring the flowers.

This year's set features two native orchids -Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi, which has yellow and star-shaped flowers specked with deep maroon, and Coelogyne rochussenii, which has pale yellowish-green and lemon-scented flowers.

A portion of the circumference of each coin is semi-rimless, which is a unique feature of the coins in the series.
