SINGAPORE - The Monetary Authority of Singapore on Wednesday launched the 2014 Native Orchids of Singapore Coins, the fourth in a series featuring the flowers.
This year's set features two native orchids -Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi, which has yellow and star-shaped flowers specked with deep maroon, and Coelogyne rochussenii, which has pale yellowish-green and lemon-scented flowers.
A portion of the circumference of each coin is semi-rimless, which is a unique feature of the coins in the series.
The coins will be issued on July 23 and can be purchased from the Singapore Mint individually or as a set. For enquiries and orders, members of the public can call 6566 2626, 6895 0288, 6222 2486, 6238 9890 or visit www.singaporemint.com
